Free dental treatment
There are some people who are eligible for free treatment under the NHS, this depends on what your current circumstances are.
For example you could get free NHS dental treatment if you:
- Are pregnant
- Are under the age of 18
- Are aged 18 and in full-time education
- Have had a baby in the last 12 months
- Get income support or some other benefits
- Have a low income
We have NHS dentists at our practice in Glasgow who are fully trained and who have extensive knowledge when it comes to NHS dental charges. One of these NHS dentists would be more than happy to discuss NHS dental charges with you in greater depth and whether or not you are eligible for free treatment under the NHS.
NHS prior approval
There can either be minor or major work that is needed. When there is major work needed the NHS have a limit on the cost of treatment that they are willing to pay towards treatment. The limit on the cost of treatment that the NHS is willing to pay is £350 per course of treatment. If the cost of treatment is over the limit of £350 then one of our dentists will need to apply for a prior approval, this is where they will send away a form with the planned treatment and ask the NHS’s permission.
